Would you like to burn fat and live longer? You are about to discover two things you can do that can accomplish both. These two tips for burning fat and living longer are great by themselves but when done in combination with one another is a very powerful one-to-punch. So if you are serious about burning fat and living longer then you definitely need to add these to your wellness tool-kit. As you know from being part of the GNF community, I have a passion for longevity which you can read about here and enjoy burning fat with cool vest and fasted walks as much as the next person. So let’s put these two together. Ready to rock this!
Two things to help burn fat and live longer: 1.) Intermittent fasting 2.) Cold thermogenesis (a.k.a. cold exposure) Intermittent fasting Essentially intermittent fasting is a scheduled time for eating that is purported to accelerate fat loss. It reduces inflammation, improves circulating blood glucose and lipid levels, reduces blood pressure, and improves metabolic efficiency while reducing oxidative stress. Intermittent fasting is a key driver of autophagy (cell death which we learned about here and one of the best ways to boost the youth of your cells. Cold thermogenesis Studies show that cold exposure reduces inflammation, increase sbrown adipose tissue activity and energy expenditure, increases metabolism by 80% during cold exposure, increases adiponectin, a protein that increases fat burning with low levels being associated with obesity, and more. This can be done with cold showers, hot-cold contract shower, or wearing an ice vest. Not only can you burn fat as studies have shown but also studies have shown colder temperatures are associated with longer life spans. The one-two punch in action On Monday’s, Wednesday’s, and Saturday’s I intermittent fast. After dinner the night before one of these days, I won’t eat or “break the fast” until 16 hours later (research shows that is the optimal time period). I will eat during an 8-hour period. For example, if I finish dinner at 7:00 PM, I won’t eat anything until 11:00 AM the next day with the last meal finishing by 8:00 PM. At the end of showering, I will turn the water to cold for a few minutes or will place on cold for 20 seconds then back to warm for 10 seconds and repeat five times. Additionally I will put on my Cool Fat Burner vest for 30 minutes to really get the shivering going. Not only do I incorporate this combo for burning fat and living longer, it just makes me feel better. Intermittent fasting three times a week isn’t that difficult. Cold exposure is a little tougher but once you start it gets easier and I find I look forward to it. It’s a great way to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
