If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you...
The temperature read forty-eight degrees at 7:00 AM Sunday morning. The sun was rising, the sky was blue, and the waves were crashing on the surf. Dressed in shorts and a t-shirt, I slowly removed my shoes and socks. The cold deep sand instantly sent a wave of pain up through my body. Time for me and my teammates to get moving. The Navy SEALS were getting ready to release us into the ice cold Pacific Ocean. With a smile on my face and a deep breath in, we began. Easy day… This is the second year that I attended the Unbeatable Mind Conference. Even with great expectations from my previous experience, I was not disappointed. It is led by the former commander of the U.S. Navy SEALS, Mark Divine, whom I have written about in previous newsletters. The coaches, guest speakers, and attendees were amazing. Over the years, I’ve attended my fair share of conferences and one thing is for sure - there is nothing in the world like being with like-minded people. None. Zero. Zilch. There were so many great moments from this conference and I’m brimming with enthusiasm to share them all with you. Instead of going into details about how wonderful it was and all the great conversations and brain-storms, I would like for you to consider two things that resonated with me from this past weekend:
There is more to life than you are living right now
You are capable of more…20x more
When was the last time that you moved or were forced outside of your comfort zone? Have you ever thought that there has to be more to your life than what it looks like right now? What’s holding you back? It’s time answer that question, honestly. What’s holding you back from creating more joy, fulfillment, passion, love, purpose in your life? One of the accomplished speakers at the conference provided me with the title of this newsletter, "if it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.” Two of my biggest challenges were: 1.) the decision to leave family and friends and a great job to move across the country, and, 2.) the decision to change careers after twenty years of experience. Was it difficult? Yes. Did I have doubts? Yes. Was it worth it? Those were two of the best decisions of my life. It has set my path on a new trajectory that gets more and more amazing. It has made me more aware of my strengths and the power of serving others. This path has opened up, showing me that there is more to life and that I’m capable of more.
Once you make a decision and commit to it, you will find yourself on a whole new journey. There is more to life than you are living right now. You are capable of much, much more. What decisions do you need to make right now? Commit and move forward. You don’t have to do it alone. There are plenty of like-minded souls yearning to do more, to become more. Seek them out. You will be so glad you did. No matter how cold the waters in your life may be, remember, if it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you. To your journey, Lisa Schaffer GreenNote Fitness P.S.
