Training big, being in a beautiful state, and living in community...

I get asked a lot what protein bars, supplements, equipment, you name it, that I use. So! We’ve compiled a GreenNote Fitness Recommendations page that you can easily look by category and see what I personally use. Check it out. As I discover and incorporate more products I will keep you updated.

GreenNote Fitness illuminates three areas or branches that we must develop to live optimally, to discover our self, and to live greatly.

Fitness for Body - I completed another “big training day”. This one was a doozy; not as much during the training but definitely afterwards I was extremely sore. Check out my exact routine on the GreenNote Fitness Facebook page.

For my recovery after the big training day, I made Turmeric Tea a.k.a Golden Milk. This is blended coconut milk (could also use almond milk) and spices including black pepper as this increases the absorption of the turmeric. Turmeric and curcumin (a compound found in turmeric) supports a healthy inflammatory response in the body, including muscles and connective tissue. See “Benefits and uses of Turmeric and Curcumin” on the GreenNote Fitness Blog Here’s how I made it (recipe courtesy of the Wellness Mama.)

This is considered the dry mix; it will be ready to go each time so you don’t have to break out all the ingredients every time you need it. I store mine in a glass container and then just add 2 teaspoons of the mix to 2 cups of unsweetened coconut milk (heated).

Mix the following ingredients all together:

1/2 cup of Turmeric 1/4 cup Cinnamon 1-2 tablespoons of black pepper (increases absorption) 1-2 tablespoons of Ginger Powder 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (optional)

Fitness for Mind - We need nourishment to fuel our bodies, minds, and spirit. Each day I feed my mind with something positive, something that makes me think, and something that challenges me. Every time I listen to an interview with Tony Robbins, I furiously take notes as he speaks with so many nuggets of goodness. Here is some of what he said in an interview. Our lives are controlled by one force - decisions. The universe (or God or Grace, whatever you believe in) gives us choices. The decisions we make control us much more than the conditions we meet. It’s not the conditions, it’s your decisions. Decisions what to believe, decisions what to do, decisions what to give… The most important decision above any on the face of the Earth, is that no matter what happens, you will be in a 'beautiful state'. What does that mean? It means that you aren’t going to suffer. It means you will be happy, or feel creative, or passionate, in awe of something, you will feel love. Any state that is a beautiful state is really the core essence of who you are without fear. …the decision that I’m not going to suffer (which is different from pain). The way you suffer is focusing on yourself. Suffering comes when we obsess about ourselves by worrying, being angry, filled with anxiety, anything that takes you out of a beautiful state. Stop focusing on yourself and serve something bigger than yourself… Suffering is me worrying about me. Be aware of that and stop it in an instant. You can decide that no matter what happens, you can have a good time. As great as it is to achieve, it’s more important to enjoy the present moment. Decide today. Decide if you will live in a beautiful state... Powerful stuff for sure. Depending on what you are experiencing right now, this may be a tall order. Understand that this is a process and it must be practiced daily. This reminds me of my Unbeatable Mind Training with Mark Divine, former Commander of the Navy SEALS (he is now an entrepreneur teaching, among other things, mental toughness). When negative thoughts arise in your mind, recognize it, and stop it in its tracks and replace with something positive. This is a reflection of mental toughness. Often times we aren’t even aware of how often we are thinking negatively. Remember, nourishment in all three branches are important. Our lives are controlled by one force - decisions. We are given choices, it is up to us to make the best decisions. Re-read Tony’s message. Understand that it is up to us to decide; let’s all choose to live in a beautiful state. “I’m unstoppable because I decided I am.” ~ Tony Robbins Fitness for Spirit - As you may have noticed, that the three branches (body, mind, fitness) flow into one another. Meaning, I may feel a spiritual connection through physical activity or reading something beautiful. It runs through all things. Lately, I have been reading and listening to Bruce Lee’s philosophy. He was a teacher that wanted to bring his Eastern philosophy together with Western ideas. What a positive light in the world he was. This week I’ve been reflecting on one of his quotes: “Under the sky, under the heavens, we are but one family." As his daughter, Shannon Lee explains this quote, he believed in the harmony of totality versus partiality. You need to be aware of your surroundings and relate to your surroundings. This helps you be in harmony with yourself and the world. It’s difficult to learn about yourself in complete isolation, you need to live in the world. We need each other. We need to support each other with our fitness of body, mind, and spirit. After all…we are but one family...
